Prior to implementing the Jasper platform, CTS relied on emails to bring devices online, check connection status and detect potential issues. The turnaround time— typically up to 48 hours—was unacceptably slow, especially for customers who require devices to be installed and activated right away. The email-based system proved particularly cumbersome on weekends and holidays, which are typically busy times for both commercial fleets and consumers.
Today, automated activation and always-on remote troubleshooting using Control Center is quick and easy for CTS. The platform helps the CTS team perform complete problem diagnosis, check if a particular device is offline, review connection history, and resolve any issues.
Cusack credits the Jasper platform’s popularity among CTS employees to its intuitive interface and ease of use. “We try to abide by the same principle—to make our own customer-facing site as uncomplicated as possible. That’s definitely the case with Jasper. The platform is straightforward, informative and configurable. And you can navigate the data in any way you need to get exactly the information you need.”

Gaining design and innovation flexibility
The flexibility of the Jasper platform enables CTS to continually refine its product offerings to accommodate varied customer needs. “Not everyone needs the same rate plan,” clarifies Cusack. “Rogers has given us data plans that we can manage through Control Center—giving us the ability to offer different data plans to different markets.”
As its business grows and the company expands internationally, CTS anticipates partnering with operators that already have a relationship with Jasper. “We have had some experience with other M2M platforms, and they’re not nearly as easy to use, or are as comprehensive and functional as Jasper,” explains Cusack.
The Internet of Things is at the very core of CTS’s business model. “Without it, we simply wouldn’t have a business!” adds Cusack. “Without the IoT connection and the services that Jasper has made available to us, the GPS vehicle tracking business wouldn’t exist.”
